Letters from Mary Tudor, 1821, to Mrs. E. and Miss Eliza Wainwright.

Mrs. Tudor, from Hartford, Connecticut, wrote to her friend Mrs. Wainwright and her daughter who lived in Boston, Massachusetts. The first letter, written to Eliza, mentioned "awkenings, inquiring and hopings" and she opined that it was all a bit too much excitement over religion, which she felt should be a personal matter. She also expressed her dislike of the preaching and methods of conversion of Rev. Joel Hawes. The second letter, written one day later to Mrs. Wainwright, expressed her delight at seeing the Wainwright women soon but disparaged theater-going in Boston as wicked and immoral.
